Peter Moody’s Mid Summer Music has continued her winning streak by claiming victory in the 2011 Cockram Stakes on Saturday August 13, 2011.

The six-year-old mare backed up her winning run in the Group 3 Blenchingly Stakes with almost a full length victory of the Group 3 Cockram Stakes field.

“She is unbelievable and she lifted the bar once again,” said Moody.

“I thought this was a far superior race to her last run at weight for age as silly as it sounds and she has a great knack being there at the right time.

“She is a real plain Jane but has an unbelievable will to win and you can’t deny her she has an unbelievable motor too.”

Jockey Ben Melham filled in for the suspended Luke Nolen to ride Mid Summer Music to her ninth career win.

“Peter has done a really good job with this horse and has placed her really well and although she is coming back to mare’s grade today it was probably her toughest test yet,” Melham said.

“She settled really well in the run and once I got her out she really accelerated to the line.

“I knew once I got her out she would show her blistering turn of foot.”

Moody is yet to decide on a spring path for the talented Oamaru Force mare.

“We will let her guide us,” he said.

“We just sought of swam and ponied her for a week after her last run and she has only had the saddle on her back two or three times since that so we will look at a similar routine see (and)what comes up for her next.”

Parables finished second in the 2011 Cockram Stakes and Anabaa’s Legacy rounded out the placings for third.

The 2011 Cockram Stakes is due to run tomorrow Saturday August 13, 2011, at Caulfield Racecourse and here you will find the best tips and betting information for the race.

The Group 3 Cockram Stakes is scheduled to jump as Race 7 at 4pm (AEST) and is worth $125,000 in prize money.

We are tipping Peter Moody’s talented Mid Summer Music to win the 2011 Cockram Stakes.

Mid Summer Music is currently paying odds of $4.60 at Luxbet and is the present favourite.

The five-year-old mare is looking to back up her win in the Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes at the same track on July 30.

The Oamaru Force mare has won eight of her first 13 races and has not finished any worse than second during her four starts this preparation.

For second, we are tipping Peter Snowden’s speedy mare Parables, who is paying odds of $5.50 to win the 2011 Cockram Stakes at Luxbet.

Parables will be having her first-up start in the 2011 Cockram Stakes after winning the Group 2 Surround Stakes on March 5, 2011.

The four-year-old mare has not once finished outside the placings during her nine start career and we believe she will perform once again in tomorrow’s Cockram Stakes.

Brazilian Pulse will also be resuming in the Cockram Stakes 2011 and we are tipping her to round out the placings in the race.

Last year’s Crown Oaks winner, Brazilian Pulse will be looking to mirror the success she experienced during last year’s Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival.

Brazilian Pulse is paying great odds of $17 to win the Cockram Stakes 2011 at Luxbet, and horse racing odds of $5 to place in the race.

So why not have a go at picking the 2011 Cockram Stakes trifecta with #1 Brazilian Pulse, #6 Parables and #8 Mid Summer Music at our favourite online bookmaker Luxbet.

As well as offering the “Best of the Best” odds, Luxbet is also rewarding customers with a bonus bet worth up to $400 if they sign up with a new account today.

Just enter the promo code BONUSBET and bank between $25 and $400 into your new account and you will be given a bonus bet worth 100% of your initial deposit.

So open a Luxbet account today to be credited with your bonus bet instantly!

The final field and barrier draw has been release for the Group 3 Cockram Stakes that will take place at Caulfield Racecourse this Saturday August 13, 2011.

The Cockram Stakes 2011 will take place over a distance of 1,200 metres and under set-weight plus penalty conditions.

Open to mares aged four-years-old and upwards only, the 2011 Cockram Stakes is worth $125,000 in prize money.

15 horses have accepted to run in the 2011 Cockram Stakes, including Peter Moody’s Mid Summer Music.

Moody admits that he didn’t have faith in the speedy six-year-old mare early on in her racing career.

“It has been a tremendous ride,” Moody said.

“I’ve got to hand up – she won her maiden at Warracknabeal and I thought she might have had her birthday.

“But thankfully at the insistence of Linda Meech and John Ivall, who is a friend of all the owners, suggested to me there was much more in her than I saw.

“Low and behold here we are 18 months later winning a weight-for-age Group 3.”

Moody feels that Mid Summer Music’s win by a nose in the $125,000 Blenchingly Stakes was the product of her drive to win.

“At no stage until the last three strides was she ever going to win the race but she’s got an unbelievable will to win and she belies her ability with her will to win,” Moody said.

“She’s got to have a crack at a race like the Cockram.

“She’s in great form and its six furlongs around (Caulfield).

“I think… she showed that she doesn’t need a swamp to win on which is pleasing and she’s shown in the summer her form is competitive so she’s earned a chance at the Cockram.”

Mid Summer Music has drawn barrier six in the Cockram Stakes and will be ridden by jockey Ben Melham.

Also included in the Cockram Stakes final field and barrier draw is Michael Moroney’s Brazilian Pulse, Greg Eurell’s Pinker Pinker and Darren Weir’s Rue Maple.

Mornington-based trainer Jason Warren saw his young training career take a surge when his outsider entrant in the $125,000 Group Three Cockram Stakes (1200m) claimed full honours on Saturday.

The race saw 16 mares form the final field with three emergencies, one of which was the Warren-trained Rhythm In Paris – which proved to punters at Sportsbet it pays to go against the odds.

After two late scratchings the Bianconi mare got her first start in a Black listed event, and didn’t waste the opportunity beating 15 top quality females.

The lightly-raced five-year-old also delivered her trainer his first win at Melbourne’s Caulfield Racecourse, rewarding him after the hard work he’s focused on Rhythm In Paris. The mare has been struck with a couple of crucial injuries in the past, starting just six time but claiming four wins.

Rhythm In Paris could certainly be an underdog for the spring racing action coming up, and proved she can provide for those risky punters who selected her at SportsBet.

Response was one early favourite and started strong from barrier one by taking the lead. However the four-year-old could not maintain speed down the final straight and finished second by a length-and-a-quarter.

Pre race favourite Lady Lynette ran well, but did not payout to her loyal punters at SportsBet after finishing a further nose back in third.

Next up for the surprise winner Rhythm In Paris will be a jump in the $200,000 Group Two Let’s Elope Stakes (1400m) on September 4, so make sure to follow the underdog with SportsBet to see your money go far.

Also taking place at Caulfield on Saturday was the $200,000 Group Two JJ Liston Stakes (1400m) which saw a superb win by Shoot Out over a quality field.

Melbourne’s Caulfield Racecourse will be lit up by some of Australia’s classiest mares come Saturday afternoon when the $125,000 Group Three Cockram Stakes (1200m) takes to the track.

The 2010 Cockram Stakes has attracted a huge influx of females and will jump at 4pm with a full field of 16, so to see where the best place to put your wager is head to Sportsbet.

When it gets to the nitty gritty one of the favourites at SportsBet is sure to be the David Hayes-trained Irish Lights.

The four-year-old may have drawn a wide start, but the Fastnet Rock mare has proved herself over the 1,200 metre mark and should be well rested after a long stint off the track.

Perhaps an underdog punters should take advantage of is the Matron Stakes winner Response which drew perfectly with barrier one.

The Charge Forward mare only has five starts to her name although has claimed two wins and already notched up $190,275 in prizemoney. Sure to be an outsider in the odds, the promising female could be a strong wager.

Valentine Miss is another potential winner. The Mark Kavanagh-trained Geoffrey Belmaine Stakes winner is another female who will be well rested.

The five-year-olds last jump was back in March and since then she has been steadily improving under the watchful eye of her trainer in anticipation of a strong spring campaign.

Other notable names forming the 2010 Cockram Stakes final field are the Moonee Valley Classic winner My Emotion in barrier eight, the Glen Boss-ridden Ocean Challenger and the Schweppes Oaks runner up No Evidence Needed.

Also taking place at Caulfield this weekend will be the anticipated $200,000 Group Two JJ Liston Stakes (1400m), so make sure you head to SportsBet to place down your wager prior to the jump.

Well the action at the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival certainly looks to be hotting up, especially with the running of the $100,000 Group Three Cockram Stakes (1400m) this Saturday.

This is the period where punters should really be putting their dollar down, as the favourites for the big spring features warm up rather than deliver, so find out where’s best to place your dollar through Sportsbet.

Twenty-four classy mares at least four-years-old have been nominated for the 2010 Cockram Stakes, but only a maximum of 16 will start.

There are several key runners for punters ready to get the early market odds to look out for at SportsBet, one of which is the Rick Hore-Lacy-trained Big Spirit.

The four-year-old returned to her winning ways late last month in the $70,000 Pin & Win for Epilepsy Handicap (1200m) at Caulfield. It was an emphatic surge from the consistent filly that’s success relies on the jump.

Another contender is winner of the 2009 Thousand Guineas Irish Lights. The David Hayes-trained mare’s last jump was in the $600,000 Group One Coolmore Stud Classic where she was defeated by Alverta in a disappointing 12th place.

Successful trainer Mark Kavanagh has two nominated for the 2010 Cockram Stakes through the Bertolini mare Puttanesca, and five-year-old Valentine Miss.

The 2010 Cockram Stakes will be one of eight thrilling races at Caulfield this Saturday, so make sure to head back here for betting tips or head straight to SportsBet now for the best options!

Other keys spring races taking place this weekend will be the $125,000 Group Three Run To The Rose (1300m) at Sydney’s Rosehill Racecourse, and the $100,000 Group Three Spring Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville Racecourse – both of which are open to punting on at SportsBet.

With the spring horse racing action just around the corner, all eyes turn to the metropolitan tracks in both Sydney and Melbourne, with the latter’s Caulfield Racecourse soon to be hosting the Liston Stakes Day.

Already signalling a start in the Stakes is the Pat Carey-trained Champagne Harmony.

One of the features will be the Group Three Cockram Stakes (1400m) which is scheduled to jump on the 14th of August.

Drawing in mares at least four-year-old looking for a good race before hitting the spring hard, the 2010 Cockram Stakes takes place under set weight and penalty conditions.

Already signalling a start in the Stakes is the Pat Carey-trained Champagne Harmony.

However the Choisir mare will have to improve her recent form to be in with a chance of succeeding at Caulfield, with her last start resulting in a 11th placed finish at the Listed Sir John Monash Stakes (1100m).

With a little more than $200,000 in prizemoney over her 10-start career, the mare will hope to add to that on the 14th of August with a win in the 2010 Cockram Stakes.

A good lead up race for the Group Three Lets Elope Stakes (1400m) on the 4th of September at Flemington, punters should make sure they keep on top of the form heading into the spring – and the best way is to sign up with an online bookie such as SportsBet.

Also taking place alongside the 2010 Cockram Stakes at Caulfield will be the Group Two Liston Stakes (1400m) – and head back here for all previews heading into the action with tips we recommend you place at SportsBet to get the best back from your buck!
