Fuhryk has been backed into outright $2.70 favouritism in 2017 Cockram Stakes betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au, ahead of Miss Cover Girl ($8) and Savanna Amour ($8.50).

Will Fuhryk justify her clear favouritism and win the 2017 Cockram Stakes, or will one of her talented rivals post an upset?

1st

Fuhryk ($2.70)

Fuhryk has not been seen at the races since autumn, but she is arguably the class mare of the Ladbrokes Cockram Stakes field and should prove extremely difficult to beat first-up. Winner of the Group 3 Kevin Hayes Stakes (1200m) in February, the Star Witness mare failed to fire in the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m), but responded with a smart second in the Group 2 Euclase Stakes (1200m) and win in the Group 3 Proud Miss Stakes (1200m). Drawn ideally in barrier 3, Fuhryk has the notable advantage of Craig Williams in the saddle for her run in the Ladbrokes Cockram Stakes.

2nd

Savanna Amour ($8.50)

Savanna Amour failed to fire in the Bletchingly Stakes at Sandown first-up, but she will appreciate a firming track and is sure to carry plenty of benefit into her second start. Winner of the Group 2 Angus Armanasco Stakes (1400m) on February 25th, the Love Conquers All mare resumed in early winter for a smart win in the Group 3 Gold Coast Guineas (1200m) and trialled well in the lead-up to her Bletchingly Stakes run. Savanna Amour could receive the run of the race in the Cockram Stakes from barrier 5 and she will be partnered by in-form hoop Ben Melham.

3rd

Lyuba ($12)

Talented mare Lyuba is another horse that will take plenty of benefit into her second-up run and she is arguably over the Ladbrokes Cockram Stakes odds at her current quote. Lyuba was a strong and consistent performer for Darren Weir through a summer and early autumn campaign; running second in both the Group 3 Bow Mistress Stakes (1200m) and Group 3 Vamos Stakes (1400m) in Tasmania most notably. The Turffontein mare resumed for a close second in a Caulfield 1100m race on August 19th and is faced with plenty of early options in the Cockram Stakes from barrier 1.
