Thames Court has been a strong and consistent performer for Brideoake in posting three wins and two minors through only seven starts, and has undoubtedly become the Mornington-based trainer’s stable star following the recent retirement of Group 1 winner Griante.

Brideoake told AAP that he has been pleased with the work completed by the daughter of Commands leading into the 2016 Cockram Stakes, but concedes the depth of talented poised to line up in the race will be difficult to overcome.

“She goes into the race in pretty good shape. It’s traditionally a very good race though,” Brideoake said.

Thames Court is a proven black type performer and Brideoake has revealed that she will be set for a number of good races through the forthcoming Spring Racing Carnival.

“I think what she’s shown me, we’ve got a serious chance of a very high quality mare as we go forward,” Brideoake said.

“Those sorts of races like the Myer Classic and the Coolmore Classic, as time goes on, are probably within this mare’s grasp.

‘We’re content to take a few shots at some nice races through the spring and whatever comes out of it, her autumn will be good.

“We’ll kick off in the Cockram and we’ll feel our way, with probably the mares’ race on Cox Plate day – the Tesio Stakes – or the Myer depending on how firm Flemington turns up to be.

“She’s certainly improved since last preparation.”

Debuting to racing for success in a Pakenham minor over 1200m in August last year, Thames Court continued to impress in running third in the MRC Foundation Plate (1400m), fifth in the Group 2 Edward Manifold Stakes (1600m) and third in the Group 2 Moonee Valley Fillies Classic (1600m).

Resuming this year for success in the City Jeep Cherokee BM64 (1200m) before posting a maiden black type win in the Group 3 Alexandra Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley on March 24th; simply failing to fire in the Listed Laelia Stakes (1600m) last time out on April 9th.

The 2016 Cockram Stakes field and barrier draw is due to be completed and released by midday, Wednesday.
